I wanted to know this, suppose if i am testing any motor application using DC power source during the development stage, the circuit will convert electrical energy to mechanical energy. But there are cases where reverse current can flow that is current can flow into the DC source. Am I correct? If it is correct then can DC power source can sink current? Should I use only batteries for testing motor applications?

Very few power supplies can both sink and source current

Rechargeable batteries can, within limits.

The motor can act as a generator.
The question might be: "can I fry my power supply if this happens?"
If yes, then the second question I would have is "How to prevent this?"
