car plug on a 12v to 6v converter

I have an old car plug here that I am using from an old device that no longer works and I want to solder it onto a 10 watt 12v to 6v converter but the fuze is only 0.5a and I have blown it already

I was wondering since the adapter is 10w or about 1.6 amps if using a 1.25 amp fuse instead would be better I need that extra aperage but I don;t want to melt the socket

any ideas?

you will need to be a bit more specific.
I.e. a photo to show what you are talking about.

On the strength of what is provided so far I can only assume the plug is 6V given your 10w /1.6A .
If the fuse is part of that setup, then a fuse of a couple of amps (say 2A) is not going to worry anything.

That converts 12v to 6v ....and it has an output rating of 3A.(so they say)
What are you trying to drive with it?
That will determine firstly, if it has the capability to do so and secondly, the size of the fuse required.

A fluorescent light I have sitting around, 10 watt I want it for in my car and also I can use it on my solar panel controller when theres a black out, just trying to save some money really. I know it'll work I am just concerned it would get to hot and either catch fire or melt the car socket.

somewhere around 1.6a which is higher than the fuse im using which is 1.25a
