Does Infra red get reflected from white surface?

Hi guys!

well me, in a robot thinking of using an infra red LED and a detector to track a line made up of a white reflector tape often used in cars. someone just told me that the infra red gets absorbed in a white surface and cannot get reflected. Is it true?


if yes then what idea should i use?

Hi Shaiq,
Something that looks white reflects all colors, usually including IR.
Something that looks black absorbs all colors.

But even black reflects IR, and even in visible spectrum if it has enough intensity.
