I think that it is happening like I imagined and the built up charge in the capacitor just collapses, is that right?

Hello,

Are the coils ready made or are they made by yourself?
When ready made I would expect about the same voltage from each coil.
What kind of magnets do you use?

Bertus
Hello Mr Bertus can you perhaps tell me how to get the IR2110's working with my setup so that the wave form is that of the desired?

I think it's nearly right because the spikes are around the 156volts like you said Mr Bertus just think it needs a little tweaking! maybe a capacitor or something?

I've bought more coils and they arrive tomorrow and I'm going to mount them so that the coils will be more balanced so that the small ones will be swapped out and try and get a better result! but still open to ideas of how to get the circuit working as is!

interesting stuff are you suggesting a different coil arrangment? because the space is a bit tight

so this might seem stupid but is there a way of knowing which lead from the coil is positive and negative and does it matter for this setup Mr Alec_t
so I did a spice program with one of the coils fitted with the other way around and it does matter 1706262820812.png

so back to the previous question how do you determine the positive and negative leads thinking of putting a small battery over the leads and seeing which the polarity of the magnets come out north and south

so this is soo nearly working thanks for the hard worrk guys the wave is looking good very good stuff! well it is working I just think I need to modify the transformer for my 240volt ac on the other side of the transformer, excellent stuff thanks and moreover it works with my digits too!!!1706266221321.png1706266057067.png

ok cool so I have to determine when a north pole is passing the coil one at a time and measure the dc voltage?

The coil polarity reverses as a magnet passes the coil.

As a N pole approaches a coil there will be one coil polarity. As the N pole moves away from the coil the coil polarity will reverse.
Something like this.

ok I'm just trying to figure out how to determine the best way, because obviously the coils are mounted, to work out how to get all of the "negative" wires - like in the setup in the spice program to be connected

Do you have an analogue multimeter? The motion of the needle as you bring a magnet near a coil would give a clue as to winding polarity.
