Hello, this is my first post so apologies if its in the wrong place. I am asking this on behalf of my partner who has a little simple knowledge of circuits. He has either 2 faults or 1 fault causing both problems. His 3.7v battery was low and only holding half hrs worth of playing before going flat so thought he would change it yesterday. On replacing the battery the radio does not now switch on at all with battery power ( radio still turns on with mains power.) Secondly the radio now has no sound from the speaker while in radio mode. The speaker works when using a flash drive USB. We have established we can hear the radio play through the headphones. Please can anyone throw some light on this please. He does have a few test meters to use. Please see attached photos. Many thanks for reading this.

Welcome to Maker Pro. :) From your description, we will concentrate on the charging port and associated circuitry take a photo of that if you could please.
Is it a Roxel dab radio retro D1 if not, I need specifics.
Is there an indicator LED proximal to the charging port?
If so, does it change color in normal usage when your battery is fully charged?
Have you tried placing a fully charged battery in the radio and see what happens?

Hi, many thanks for your reply. The radio is a Roxel RDR 40.

Is there an indicator LED proximal to the charging port? YES
If so, does it change color in normal usage when your battery is fully charged? Its RED when switched on and Green when switched off.
Have you tried placing a fully charged battery in the radio and see what happens? Yes, he replaced it with a like for like battery. There was a strip running down battery which he removed and spot welded onto new battery. Please see photo. Battery shows 4.08v at Plus and negative and 4.05v at metal strip and also at the connection plug.

Hi again

My partner says the battery is 4.08v as it is not a brand new battery he used. Can I just check this is the capacitor to be changed. We can't see any bulge but will happily accept your wiser wisdom....and will this also solve the no sound coming from speaker when on radio modeIMG_2981.jpg? THANKYOU:)
