I was going to buy 22 gauge wire to make breadboarding leads. I happened to be at the dollar store and bought 6 spools of wire for $4.50. The wire is thin, silver and solid (no strands). It is the perfect fit for breadboard holes and it came in red and black sheathing. I am wondering if this would be good wire to use on the pcb curcuit builds. Any thoughts? It didn’t say anything on the packaging in terms of gauge.

Is it tin plated copper by any chance?
Use a digital caliper to measure.
If copper core, it will be fine to use for PCB, I assume it takes solder?

Digital calibre shows .028 inches
It seems to take solder.
I don't know how to tell if it has a copper core. I have attached a pic of it.
I scraped it with a knife and I don't see any copper. It just looks silver right through.

Cut it through, then look at the cut. You should be able to see the core.
It is highly unlikely to be silver.
If it were aluminum, it wouldn't be solderable (wouldn't take solder).
Copper core with tin plating is rather common.
