Matthew A. Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 My friend insists that it is impossible to determine the square root of pie because, as everyone knows, you cannot fit a square into a circle. I told him it can be done as long as one remembers to round off first. :o Quote
surajbarkale Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 I found this site - http://www.uwgb.edu/dutchs/PSEUDOSC/SquareCirc.htmBTW if you google with square root pi it will give you the result directly Quote
Matthew A. Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 Well Suraj, I'm just happy that my friend will now no longer be able to back me into corner in this one area of discussion. Although, it only does so in a round about way, the link to the psuedoscience page you posted most defineately confirms my theory. With the information I have now acquired, I'll be ready to put it to her straight the next time my friend wishes to square off with me on the subject. Quote
Kevin Weddle Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 The length of the arc is a neverending fraction because as you try to measure it's length using a series of straight lines, you always have a bow no matter how many straight segments you use. The sheer number of straight segments that you must use to get the length is neverending. The more segments you use, the closer you come to the length of the arc. Quote
