Dazza Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 It is really annoying me not knowing what it is, and what I can use it four ;D ;D. Quote
steven Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 dazza what dose these parts look like on the bottom do they have 4 legs and are they metal, i geuss you could try an autopsy see whats inside so you will get an idea what they are Quote
Dazza Posted November 24, 2004 Author Report Posted November 24, 2004 steven, it has three legs on each end, and its like an inductor. It looks as though there's a medal rod passing through the centre that is connected to the centre leg at each end. The two outer legs at each end are connected to the inductor coils. Quote
ante Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Hi Guys,I am fairly sure this is a relay. The kind with a glass tube in the middle! Quote
ante Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 I just remembered ::) that they are called magnetic reed switch or reed relay. And there is one of these inside the coil: Quote
Dazza Posted November 25, 2004 Author Report Posted November 25, 2004 Thanks, yes that's what they are :D. They will be very useful. Any idea on the power they can handle, and the type of applications they are used for, basically why would you use one of these instead of a relay?. Quote
steven Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 :) actually i wonder if a relay unit out of a car would do ok , or even a truck, and maybe if you allso need a regulator i wonder if you can use the one from a car alternator Quote
ante Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Dazza,The switch contacts are hermetically sealed so it will not ignite hydrogen ;D and also they are protected from dust. If you can find the manufacturer and some numbers you might be able to identify its rating. Quote
Dazza Posted November 25, 2004 Author Report Posted November 25, 2004 Hi ante, the scavenging and salvaging the components is the easy part compared to, searching the Internet to find information for the components, man what a job :P ;D.I see ante, they are very useful indeed 8).Thank you. Quote
