Redge
Good day all I have very basic electronic knowledge and can build basic circuits. I am building a tracking device that will turn my solar panel from east to west during 8 hours. The device will be powered by a 12v dc motor that will turn a threaded rod to move the panel through about 90 degrees. the motor will be controlled by a 12 relay. I need a circuit diagram that will power the relay to run the motor for 2 seconds at a time, but I would like to be able to adjust the time between runs from approx 30 sec to 5miniutes. also if possible, the motor must reverse after 8 hours until stopped by a limit switch. Any help would be appreciated Thank you Redge
HarryA
This is easier to do today with microcontollers like the Arduino UNO for example. Else you can fabricate it from logic circuits using a number of timers like the MC1455 (a newer NE555). I can help you with either approach but recommend the microcontroller. If you are not familiar with them it would be a good project to learn on. You will notice there are a lot of solar trackers on Ebay for less cost then to make one.
