Fan not working on chinese room heater

Likely a blown diode or pwm chip. If you have a meter and show a picture of the back, we can probably walk you through a repair, although probably cheaper to replace it.

Chip ID on Hunter water controller

Thanks Harald, it was giving erroneous error faults and doing strange things like not turning on or off zones, and turning on multiple zones at once. One time it was briefly flashing on/off a zone about every second. All discrete components tested good. I switched this out with another module...

Chip ID on Hunter water controller

Left off by manufacturer. Yes, It's maked U1 but i thought it might be a comparator chip since it just monitors current on the 8 outputs. Alas, The manufacturer would rather I pay them $150 rather than a few bucks.

Chip ID on Hunter water controller

Trying to repair my Hunter output module and suspect the IC on bottom right is bad. Searching 9943HAB yielded no results. The logo looks like Microchip. Is there any chance of finding a replacement, ... or must I pony up $150 for a new board?

Phase voltage in AC Delta connection

I think the confusion is between supply and load. The phase current inside the windings of a Delta connected transformer will draw less current than a Wye. But, you are showing your deepfryer load wired with a Delta configuration. If you apply 230v 3p to the Delta load, you are changing the...

    Power supply with current output

To be clear, You can not have current flow without voltage and a load applied. Enter Ohms law. If you have a 1 ohm load applied to a 5v power supply capable of delivering 10 amps or more, it will never draw more than 5amps. If you have a 1 ohm load applied to a 3v power supply also capable of...

    FR & RF Thermal fuse.

I don't know either but I suspect it has to do with construction materials used. For your rice cooker I'm sure its fine.

Which Soldering iron should I get please?

A common soldering mistake I have seen is when someone holds the iron and solder on simultaneously while the joint heats up....waiting for the solder to melt. The solder itself will draw the heat away. It is better to place the iron and then give the joint time to heat up. Then, dab the solder...

Which Soldering iron should I get please?

Yes, The 60watt should heat faster but will get much hotter. You should size your soldering iron on the temperature you need based on the application. For delicate soldering on small components a 15Watt iron may be ideal. If you used a 65watt iron it would burn the heck out of everything. For...

    Old module does not work

This area of relay (where the contacts are) may show discoloration when the contacts start to go bad.

    Old module does not work

Yes. Simply means heating it up and applying a dab of solder. Look and see if the relay Looks black with carbon soot from pitting of the contacts. If so I'd replace it.

    Old module does not work

Yes. Follow the traces and check for low resistance or continuity on the pins where the harness plugs in. It wouldn't hurt to just reflow all the joints. Not necessary to remove the old solder, just add a little to each joint.

replace a 9v power outage backup sorce

On my older controller, I can remove the 9v battery without losing its program. But if left out too long its lost. I don't see a second battery in the photos so I suspect there's an electrolytic cap that sustains voltage while swapping 9v batteries. If this cap is bad, the program will be...

replace a 9v power outage backup sorce

Usually the 9v battery controls just the display and its processor. On my controller (Hunter ICC) it will retain the program if it takes a few minutes to hunt for a replacement 9v battery. If left out longer than that, it will lose its ever loving mind. I agree, there's likely a lithium...

replace a 9v power outage backup sorce

Yes, 24Vav is available which drives the water solenoids but you also have your line voltage on the primary side of the 24v control transformer. Why not just use an AC adapter or buy a 9v battery charger? Its likely a cheaper option than buying the parts to make a dedicated charging circuit...

Trouble understanding a V+ description on a motor driver

If you look at the trace on the back, they are physically connected together so you should be fine. Point is, the logic side is only designed for monitoring the motor voltage and has smaller traces that cant handle high current. In an automotive example, you could monitor the car battery...

is it possible to run or modify a 120 watt ballast for a 100 watt mercury vapor bulb?

No problem using a 100w lamp in a fixture with a 120w rating. Since MV is now obsolete. Do yourself a favor and convert it to HPS, MH or even better...LED. Please make sure you properly recycle mercury lamps.

    Monitoring Rs232 data

True, except i would see the crossed Tx/Rx by checking continuity. I believe I never saw the data with my laptop because the proper bits weren't set such as clear to send. If I use a spy cable I presume it would then work. I still like the idea of a breakout box. I'll either make or buy one.

    Monitoring Rs232 data

Thanks hexreader. I like your idea of using a breakout box with LEDs. I just wanted to use a terminal program on my laptop just to verify that the data is being transmitted from the host computer. Not even to necessarily analyze it. Once transmission is verified, the problem is most likely...
