    Power consumption calculation

Is the battery 5v or not? Supposing it was 5v then it's a case of (but i'm not claiming 5v bstteries exist) 9000mah (capacity) / 55ma =163 hours

Got given a blown car charger

A mate of mine reverse polaritied his car dashcam recorder's car power supply, opened it up to find 1 exploded ic switcher, the diode measured oy 0.1v across the diode (not a schottky, i checked) Replaced it all except for the electrolytic caps which survived, i found it interesting that they...

How to build a dimming flexible light

Confused... When moving the light tube it dims? But in the Centre (a table? Floor?) It's full brightness, inductive or with wires? If you were sending an inductive power source to charge the tube, you could get an idea of how far out you are from the voltage it's getting via induction... 5v...

    Low Speed Relay

What if you rectified the pwm to a dc voltage and a drain resistor? When the pwm is cut, the cap will discharge

12v car barrery to 6v to run led lighting and 6v radio incorperating a solar pannel

As long as the battery does not go over 15v (and even if you tried it would not do much as the electrolyte would just boil away very slowly) You will have more wind than solar, a 12v wind generator?

    Anyone have any oscilloscope recommendations?

Even el cheapo can measure noise though... I thought the reason for a more expensive unit is for things like 2 or 3 inputs and handling higher frequencies In which case, el cheapo will do this job...

    10ohms 12v? 12 - 2 .. 10v/10ohms = 1amp 10 ohm resistors?

What is the resistance and wattage of this resistor

Wattage depends on size, that looks like a 1 to 3watt (5watt and higher usually come in ceramic)

    Help With Draining Batteries

How complex? How about putting the wasted energy into something useful, yeah good question lol 24amps is a lot of current (24*12) 288 watts, maybe use two or three or four peltier (thermo electric) devices, eg to cool your beer on waiting for it to reach 11v (Opamp/voltage comparator/micro...

mains rectified voltage for christmas lights

You must have missed the part where i "unglued it and traced it" And found out it was rectified and not being dropped

mains rectified voltage for christmas lights

The LEDs are not normal leds though so the flicker might not be there, but then any ic controlled led would have trouble changing color as it's always being reset

    Creating 5V DC

600ma at 5v, pretty good for a warmer... 4 x 1.2nimh cells should do the job nicely.. for 1 warmer

mains rectified voltage for christmas lights

Yeah i am pretty shocked, i'd have put money on it dropping via the cap, but yeah i should have realized when i saw it 3 years ago it was not a safety film capacitor.. Live and learn (incidently, if i was going to do it, i would have used a film mk2? I have a bag or 2 or 3 full of them, never...

    Low Speed Relay

So you need a micro controller or frequency( or whatever it's outputting) to voltage converter, i have no clue what that pin outputs voltage wise? Then use a single transistor to energize or cut power to the relay

mains rectified voltage for christmas lights

After ripping into it, i found 10 x 2.9k resistors from a rectified 300v Explains why each resistor shows signs of burning And yes, fair enough my mistake i never traced the circuit at the time to discover that as it was glued in..

mains rectified voltage for christmas lights

Yup, 240 in through the diode rectifying to 300 odd volts However, there are only 10 self changing diodes, and not in series... I was convinced it had to be a dropper, but there's no extra circuitry in the star to explain the voltage drop for 10 self changing leds... I've cracked it open

mains rectified voltage for christmas lights

Don't make me wire it up (they pulled off when i grabbed it) I can assure you this is how they do it, and electrolytics do work, don't shoot the messenger

Why would sections of an RGB LED string freeze animating after 30 mins?

The fact it takes a while suggests heat.. I'd put money on the controller being faulty than the addressable strip

    LT1528 voltage drops too much

You beat me to it, breadboard losses are insane if you're playing with just volt difference Eg, i created a switch mode (step up) power supply on a breadboard, calculated it to be around 10uf for the inductor, but because of the breadboard it failed You might be ok with an ldo if you solder...
