    I’m afraid that only you can make that decision. It might pay to watch some YouTube videos on your symptoms. It could be as simple as a new thermostat to requiring a major tear down and re-gassing. Most manufacturers have their own common faults which can be researched quite easily on the net.

    I personally keep boards from broken electronics. Printers, hi-fi, radios, TV etc can be a great source for components. I recycle all the casings/ housings unless they are small enough to be used for projects. The list of components and useful items in a printer is endless.

    Of course you can make your own bridge with diodes. 1N4*** series diodes will be perfect. Also, the bridge rectifier shorting will instantly activate the fuse (blow).

    What????? How do you check your speed then?. Does your vehicle have an orange or red light when the temperature gets to a set high point?, if so, connect the chime to that. Ps. Gauges on the dashboard are a part of driving a vehicle. You should train yourself to check them.

    Personally, I do exactly as you have described. Pretty much in the same order too. But I’m not a designer, only a hobbyist and keep lots of broken boards for scavenging components.
