    PP3 batteries are no good for your application. If you must, use C or D cells. They will last much longer. Martin

    What are the specs of the DC converter?. Don’t forget that a motor can draw up to 10 times it’s running current when starting or stalling. Maybe the speed controller and motor is just too much for the converter?. Martin

    3 x 6V lamps @ 300mA Or 3.6V lamps @ 300mA? What batteries are you using? Either way, 900mA (almost an Amp) is a lot for a 9V battery and won’t last long at all. It’s rapidly being drained and will get hot. Martin

    R23 is a 1K resistor connected to pin 12. What happens when you hold the button while powering on the unit?. Does it come on and stay on? Or turn off?. Martin

    You need to remove the PCBs and check the solder joints. Use a magnifying glass. Check ESR of electrolytic capacitors. Martin

    All it’s missing is a 270 milliHenry capacitor on the biased negative side and 2 x 47uF resistors across each LDR. Should work a treat.

    Intermittent issues are invariably loose connections. Either thermal or cracked solder joints. It could also be electrolytic capacitors in the subs power supply. Martin

    The external connections may be good, what about the internal connections?. Subs typically have a lot of vibration. Can you test the sub on a different channel?. Martin
