    Are you assuming 12V? When the engine is running, the alternator will be outputting >14.V. Adding another bulb won’t make the slightest difference. Martin

    Can you clarify what you mean here?. Sonos has an app. Sonos has speakers. Do you mean a mobile phones headphone output to pre-amp input and then output to an amp? Martin

    First, I doubt adding another bulb will have any undesirable affect. But check the wire gauge to make sure. If in doubt, add a relay to make sure it’s ok. I’ve added loads of extra lighting to my van including tow bar electrics. Martin

    Don’t bin it just yet, a shorted capacitor is the most likely culprit. You seem to have an idea about voltage injection so continue with your bench supply. There is probably three voltage rails, 19v main rail, 5V and 3.3V or 1.8V. Trace the main 19V rail to the other onboard power supplies...

    Is it written mFD or mfd?. Because 50mFD = 50,000 μF. If I’ve got it right of course!. So probably 50mfd is 50μF. But don’t take my word for it. Wait for a real answer because my math is worse than yours!. Martin

    yeah, that rings many bells!. I got a whack recently from a live heat sink, 240V. It wasn’t pleasant but made me jump!. Luckily I had an insulated probe in the other hand. Complacency is our worst enemy. Therefore any safety measure is better than none!. Martin

    With high voltage, I always keep one hand away. Either in my pocket or I sit on it. Avoids touching a different potential by accident. Also back of the hand, that’s obviously for when the hand uncontrollably grabs what’s delivering the shock. So in my honest opinion, both are legitimate safety...
