sasha_ca_ru
Hi all,I would like to make Garage door status indicator. I know it is easy to make it with wires. However I would like to build wireless system. Do you guys have circuits for this type of project. Thanks a lot!
Guest Yevgenip
What do you mean, no wires? If you want the circuit not to have any wires at all, that is a bit impossible. Please make yourself clearer.Yevgeni.
sasha_ca_ru
I ment to have wireless system between garage door sensor and indicator that will be mounted inside the house. I.e. When garage door is open, LED inside the house will be ON.When garage door is closed, LED inside the house will be OFF.
Dazza
Do you really need to use a transmitter/ wireless :-\. It would be very simple to set up, if you used wires :).
sasha_ca_ru
Well, I would like to use wireless system because I don't know how to run wires :)However, if you have simple solution to the problem, I may change my mind. ;)
Dazza
Here is something to have a look at. I am sure a simpler setup can be found :).k82.pdf
sasha_ca_ru
Ohh! This is a preassembled kit. I wanted to do something my self. Thanks anyway!!! ;)
MP
sasha, I think they are kidding with you a bit. Please look in our projects section for wireless circuits. There are some in there. At the top of the page is a link to the projects section. If these are not what you are looking for, try the web with key words Infrared transciever or IR transciever.MP
Guest Yevgenip
All right then, you can use a simple radio transmitter/reciver mechanism (I don't have one, am posting for one myself).Or use infrared interface.Really, check out the projects section, there are tons of IR. surajbarkale
Here is a project http://users.cableaz.com/~cappels/dproj/LCRFLINK/LCRFLINK.htm. You can remove the microcontrollers and put a switch at i/p & LED at o/p and you can get what you need.
ante
Sasha,Remember if you go for IR (infra red) there must be a clear path between transmitter and receiver (no obstacles) for it to work properly.
Guest Yevgenip
like a car for instance. :D
ante
Yea, or a wise ass! ;D ;D ;D
sasha_ca_ru
Thanks guys!!!Well, first of all, there is no clear path between transmitter and receiver, like a car or wise ass ;DI think I will go with wires then. What do I need to make a hole in the wall? ??? Kidding... So I will have to make some kind of a switch and blinking circuit inside the house... I will post some ideas later on, please check it out, ok? :-\ Thank you!
AJB2K3
It looks like everyone forgot to ask one simple question. The the motor unit have relay contacts?

MP
AJ,I don't see why this is an important question in regards to the original post, but I am sure sasha would appreciate any good advice that you would like to add regarding the use of relays.MP
sasha_ca_ru
Yes don't be shy to share your ideas. Thank you all! :-*
CRE
I personally would recommend against a switch dependant on the garage door opener's operation. I would recomment placing something along the lines of 6" to 12" of strip magnet on the door and a reed switch on the inside frame. This way if someone were to pull the release and open the door bypassing the opener you would still know the actual state of the door.I've worked on similar issues before where a keypad was placed outside to open the garage without key or remote and if for any reason they got out of sync you'd end up having to type in your code to close the door but pressing one button would open it...
