    Wish that sentence was in my ex-wifes vocabulary . Practise with header pins, you wont fry or burn the segment display. You could then use them for inserting the display. (If you want, of course). Martin

    The gold bits are connections. They look ok. However, the soldering bottom right in your photo looks dodgey!. Make sure the solder has not bridged another connection. Use a magnifying glass. Martin

    Hi kwicher, Somebody will be able to decipher the 8 pin dip fairly easily. But in the mean time, have you checked the switch? it certainly looks corroded and rust evident on the inside. Try bypassing the switch and then check the output. Martin

    You can't have all those single pushes of the same switch to do all those different functions. You can have them sequenced. 1.open, 2.close, 3.stop, 4.reverse etc. But all this will require programming a microchip. Martin
