    BLDC drive help

Depends on loading, but motors in general tend to draw large hunks of current to initiate rotation. Hence the possibility of your problem.

need to determine the strike voltage of a fluoro tube

Better to work it out in theory. Do a search on google re-inductance. Any tests would at the very least require a scope. Many dangers associated with what you are proposing.

    PS4 Cooling Fans

If these fans are what I think they are, they will not take too kindly to being connected to a potentiometer. Nor will the pot with nearly 2w flowing. Forget the pot.

Use Capacitive Sensing to detect a train?

Small magnet on the carriage or whatever and hall switch beside the track...simple. No need for any metal to detect.

    BLDC drive help

Don't see how you can expect a 50W motor to run on a 36W power supply.

How to protect Metal Halide Bulb from burning

What size cabling supplies the lights and how far from the main distribution switchboard are the lights, especially the last fitting.? Still sounds like excessive voltage drop to me. A diagram of your complete layout also ...thanks.

Beginner circuit question - 555 timer

10uF seems large to me. Are you sure it's that size as mostly it would be maybe 0.01uF, put there to eliminate noise much like a cap on the supply rails to other chips. If you do a search you will find there are also recommended maximum resistor/cap combos to use with the 555. Long timing is...

What would 'high-power' be considered? (Constant Current Source)

Consideration would have to be given to the local traffic laws with regard to install of bright lights. i.e. you cannot drive around with headlights on high beam blinding drivers coming from opposite direction.

    Drill cordless battery use computer

Can't see why not. Problem now that they have ripped the guts out of the charger, how do they recharge the battery? There is no fuse in the supply which a standard power unit would almost certainly have. Also, they did not check polarity of the connection which could have blown the guts out of...

    AC power generation and transformers

Any hv cabling I've ever had anything to do with, in Aus at least, there is a strictly controlled method to discharge the capacitance. This is before works commence or during test proceedures. Just shorting out seems a very dangerous approach to me and in this day and age with workplace health...

Is this switch safe? Dual 26650

Unless I am sadly mistaken and my eyes are playing tricks on me, that switch looks like it is a dead short across the battery.
