  1. Thats "EL foil Backlight" These usually need a high voltage inverter to work
  2. first you must get a C compiler for PICs. Then you search documentation for your compiler. Most compilers have official or unofficial user forums where you can find code examples, tested libraries etc
  3. check this http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~umparekh/hard_drive_clock.html
  4. get a 555 running at 5khz throught a tranzistor drive it to the 12Volt winding of a normal 230V/12V transformer. On the 230V winding you'l have high voltage, enough to feel it. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE OF ANY INJURIES YOU MIGHT HAVE.
  5. these lcds usually have a rubber conductor to communicate with the main board. In most cases this rubber does not make good contact and the lcd looses its contrast. To fix this try cleaning the rubber and contacts with clean dry cloth.
  6. Happy birthday geitona....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  7. There is an error in the inputs. It is caller Vio (Input offset) usually it is some
  8. Simulation is always simulation and it is very difficult to get exactly the same results in theory and on the breadboard. Have you used the ideal components of the multisim library or the typical library with possible tolerance??
  9. Do you know the word availability????
  10. Google for: Ohm's Law and Kirchoff law See also: http://www.ibiblio.org/obp/electricCircuits/index.htm
  11. For good soldering: -Hot iron (but not too hot to destroy pcb tracks or component 300-350c is good) -solder with fluxed core. The other ones are headache... The solder must be 60% of Sn and 40% Pb -Practice, and more practice
  12. Ante Sorry no pictures shooted in this meeting... I didnt got my camera, i supposed mixos would bring one...
  13. Hey 20:00 is almost day. Now in greek...
  14. The current monitoring I think is better and not so difficult. You must measure the voltage drop across the led current limiting resistor. If this voltage is over a user selected maximum level, an alarm is generated. The circuit could consist of an opamp with adjustable offset
  15. I'll be there! ;) ;) Ouzou Melathron is the best. We must make a reservation for a saturday night in order to find a table. We 'll see... :o :o
  16. I think that breadboard is the best for prototyping, because you can change everything in a minute without desoldering anything etc. Yes you might have many wires (look like spagetti.. :P) but if you want to test something it is very useful. I use breadboard in all my electronics education, and keep going. PS Of course it is useless for final constructions and very costly
  17. No cost Lie detector: -Get ur multimeter, give to the person to hold the probes in each hand steady. -Put the multimeter to the MOhm scale (usually 2Mohm is ok ) and you will see a value. -If this value increases the person says the truth. -If this value decreases the person LIES!!! Basically it measures the resistence of the body. When a person lies, is stressed so the body temperature increases, so it gets more wet the resistance decreases.
  18. Go and ask your techician what is the tv cables impedance. He will propably wont know. Are your televisions have good reception? When they are both ON?? Go and buy a 2-way splitter (I think its called like this my english is baaad). It has three connectors, of whitch one is input and the other two are the outputs. If you like there are 4-way for more TVs... If you get Sattelite dish you will need different cabling from LNB to Sattelite receiver. And I suggest you to keep the ordinary antenna.
  19. You may use a windshield pump and a sprayer like these azax bottles that are plastik. These sprayers usually have a metal valve in them but we dont need it because it is used only for pumping the liquid from below. Maybe it is nessesary to keep the lever pressed in order to allow fluid to be sprayed. You will mount the windshield pump to the pipe that usually is in the bottle. You can find bottles like this in supermarkets (mixo, o masoutis exei...), they are used in gardening, to spray the leaves with water... they are cheap and its nozzle is adjustable from straight line to almost mist... I use one of them to spray the boards with water after etching... it is very handy...
  20. Get yourself a PCI soundcard. A simple 5.1 costs about 25-30 euros. I'm sure you will like surround sound ;). A stereo one is much more cheaper
  21. I don't know mixos, Once, I went by and saw it working on a breadboard, but I had not the time to play with it :(
  22. Far back in my school days, I took 2 pieces of paper and 2 pieces of aluminioum foil (smaller than the paper) and I placed them like this: alouminioum========------>cable paper================= alouminioum========------>cable paper================= and I rolled them with the top alouminoum foil being inside. The paper is non conductive so it here is your paper capacitor. PS If you squeez the paper the capacitanse will increase so you also have a variable capacitor :P PS I hope you make sense of what I'm saying....
  23. Nice job hotwaterwizard !!! The *.rar files open with WinRar (something like winzip) the 1st service manual is in russian language (or something I can't understand) . The second one is OK ( http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=4635 ) :)
  24. Sensirion used to send samples of their temperature-humidity sensors SHT11 but only until the end of 2003. I got some of these nice chipies :P
