Need help sourcing a power transformer

You may be able to rig something up fairly cheaply. There are DC-DC boost converters. And buck converters. You could use an old laptop PSU or similar and then use two converters. One for 35V and one for 10V. House it all in one neat plastic container. Without ever trying this, it might add noise...

    Bricking USB-C hard for presentation.

I would think shorting VBUS to GND would do the trick. Or reversing their polarity. Why not open the drive and remove some components?. You could then put it back to a usable state after. Martin

    Low voltage drop diode

There are Schottky diodes that are approx 0.2 - 0.3V and 10A rated. They are quite common for solar panels. Martin

CRT TV repair, color issues, trinitron kv-21r1d

Adding to the above posts, check all the solder joints. Sony TVs were renown for cold/dry or cracked solder joints. Martin

    What component type to use?

Not really sure what your asking here. Is the fan a simple on-off? Or is it speed controlled too?. Is the PWM controller a board you want to add?. If so, what motor does the fan have and what voltage? 5V?. Martin

    Failed diodes

Generally speaking, a fuse would blow with a short across the mains, be it a X2 cap , bridge diode or any combination of both.

Aldi 12V Battery Charger Repair - where to start ?

I think an experienced member here could help you in no time. I can help to a degree but SMPS for me are quite complex individuals. It depends on you. I don’t let much beat me and refer to this forum if it does. But remember, you have the circuit in your hands, we have photos and text. We rely...

    Oscilloscope Connection Question

An isolation transformer is used or the usual expensive differential probes. A dual scope with ‘add’ can be used but never use the GND clip. I don’t think you should try try this with your new scope. Martin Martin

    Failed diodes

I would add that fuses would blow . What’s your definition of widespread? Does some parts of the circuit still work without the fuse blowing? Martin

phone doesn't charge sony xperia xz premium

Clearly there is a connection problem that’s remedied by holding the cable at a certain angle. Changing the connector would only work if that’s faulty with bent pins etc. You clearly have a broken PCB trace or cracked PCB. A magnifier will prove this. Martin

Aldi 12V Battery Charger Repair - where to start ?

Hi, curry was one of my best restaurant style curries ever. I got the base gravy and tomato bases spiced perfectly. Even the onion Bhajis were superb. Back to your problem. The batteries won’t be dead, there is a frowned upon trick that you didn’t hear from me. (Use a good battery and connect a...

Aldi 12V Battery Charger Repair - where to start ?

Well done, yeah eBay seems cheapest. That resistor seems fine too. I can’t really compare both sides of the board on my phone so it’s hard to say for sure. Give me a few hours as I’m cooking a BIR curry as well lol. I’ll try and see if I can trace where that diode goes. Normally I would suspect...

Aldi 12V Battery Charger Repair - where to start ?

Definitely seems to be a short on that diode. I was going to say lift a leg on each to test out of circuit but you beat me to it. That resistor comes back as 0.47Ω 5%. At least on my chart. Probably the sense resistor. Edit: you’ll probably need to lift a leg on the resistor too. Martin

Aldi 12V Battery Charger Repair - where to start ?

You’re doing really well. Sometimes, capacitively touched transistors will change state and yours sounds fine. The next obvious things to check are the diodes either side of that high frequency transformer. Four in total. You could also check that resistor by the transistor. The cap on the...

Aldi 12V Battery Charger Repair - where to start ?

I just noticed something on the underside of the PCB. Top right of the 8 pin IC, upper most capacitor C13. It looks like one side has blown? Can you confirm this? Martin
