Pulsiv Limited, a UK-based power electronic company, has introduced the world’s first 240W USB-C Power Delivery with a single USB-C. This new standard combines Pulsiv OSMIUM front-end technology with a flyback topology for an efficient, EMC-compliant, and cost-effective power delivery solution.

The main feature of this new standard is that, unlike existing USB-C chargers that max out at 140W per port, it lets you change high-power applications like gaming laptops, monitors, and small domestic appliances. Eliminating internal power electronics enables faster charging and reduced device sizes. To simplify things, the company provides reference designs for custom layouts, standard assembled modules for rapid integration, and customizable modules for specific needs. These features make this new standard useful for applications like cordless tools, vacuums, portable appliances, projectors, and gaming consoles, drastically reducing charge times and enabling innovative product designs.

Pulsiv 240W USB-C Power Delivery Solution Specifications

  • Input Voltage: Compatible with standard AC input ranges.
  • Power Output: Delivers up to 240W via a single USB-C port.
  • Topology: Flyback design using Pulsiv OSMIUM front-end technology.
  • Efficiency: High efficiency with strict EMC and line current compliance.
  • USB-C Support: Fast-charging protocol compatible with high-power devices.
  • Key Advantages:
    • Reduces device size, weight, and cost by eliminating internal power electronics.
    • Supports variable output voltages and rapidly changing load requirements.
    • Reduces charging times by up to 80%.

Reference Design: In their press release the company mentions that they will provide a complete reference design, including a datasheet, schematic, and bill of materials, available on their website soon. This option allows users to design and build their own 240W USB-C solution, becoming early adopters of this technology.

Standard Assembled Module: The company also mentions that they are now working on a fully assembled 240W USB-C module with one USB-C port, ideal for users with limited resources. Pre-orders for samples are open now, with deliveries starting in late March 2025 and mass production beginning in July 2025. These modules will also be stocked by distributors like DigiKey for quick global availability.

Custom Assembled Module: Customers with specific requirements can order custom-assembled modules, specifying the number and placement of USB ports, input voltage range, and mechanical form factor. This option is available with a non-recurring engineering (NRE) cost of $10,000 and a minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 500 units.
