I'v read alot of projects which depend on ultraSonic waves to measure distances and avoide barriers
So is it possible by using Laser ,I mean : Could I use Laser to measure distances and How ??

In the first moon mission they put up a mirror on Moon. It was used to measure the distance between Earth & Moon accuratly by bouncing a LASER back from that mirror. As the speed of light is tremendous (3*10^9m/s) you can not use LASER to measure small distances. Maybe you can measure above 500m. But I am not sure.

intresting ive got the lazer radar detecter that detects those hand held radar guns the police use or used to use. as for lasers measureing distance yeh theyve got a spirit leveler out that uses a laser to give you the strait line and i think it measures to, ive seen it at the hardware but dident look into its function very much

If you don't want to be clocked by a radar gun you have to have an anti-reflective surface all over your vehicle. Stealth bombers are coated with an anti-reflective surface also...as you might think its not cheap or practical for us.
