M5STACK has launched the ESP32-H2 Thread/Zigbee Gateway Module (SKU: M141), a stackable development module designed for M5 series hosts, featuring the ESP32-H2-MINI-1 chip with a 32-bit single-core RISC-V processor with a clock speed of up to 96 MHz.

This module supports wireless communication protocols such as Zigbee, Thread, and Matter (based on Thread), leveraging IEEE 802.15.4 technology for seamless ecosystem interconnectivity. With built-in hardware encryption for secure IoT applications, the module includes an 8-position DIP switch for flexible interface switching (UART/SPI) and wireless function control.

It supports low power consumption of 8.55mA at 3.3V and a working current of 18.35mA at 3.3V during Thread networking, making it suitable for smart home automation, industrial automation, healthcare, consumer electronics, smart agriculture, and sensor networks. The module is compatible with development platforms like UIFlow 2.0 and Arduino IDE, allowing easy firmware flashing and debugging. Measuring 54.0 x 54.0 x 13.1mm and weighing 11.8g, it features an on-board PCB antenna and 2MB flash. With an operating temperature range of 0-40°C, it is well-suited for building energy-efficient wireless communication nodes.

Previously, we have written about the Waveshare ESP32-H2-DEV-KIT-N4, an ESP32-H2-MINI-1-based dev board with Zigbee and Thread connectivity. We have also covered other Gateway Modules including the Elecrow LR1302, the EDATEC ED-GW1303S, and many more. Feel free to browse them, if you are interested in this topic.
