GigaDevice has recently introduced the GD32H75E MCU, a high-performance MCU built around an Arm Cortex-M7 core, designed for industrial automation applications such as servo control, PLCs, motor control, and communication modules.

The most highlighting feature of this MCU is that it integrates an EtherCAT SubDevice Controller (ESC) with two internal Ethernet PHYs (or bypass mode) for real-time industrial networking. The MCU offers 3840KB flash memory with security protection, 1024KB SRAM, and an external memory controller for expanded storage. It includes motion control features like an encoder divide output controller (EDOUT) and a high-performance digital filter module (HPDF), along with multiple connectivity options, including SPI, I2C, UART, CAN-FD, USB 2.0 OTG FS/HS, and audio interfaces. It also features various analog instruments including 14-bit and 12-bit ADCs, a DAC, and comparators. With extensive timer support, and industrial-grade operating temperature ranges (-40°C to +105°C) this MCU is ideal for applications like variable frequency drives, industrial PLCs, and communication modules.

An EtherCAT SubDevice Controller (ESC) is a specialized hardware component responsible for managing real-time communication in an EtherCAT network. It acts as an interface between the EtherCAT master and the connected slave device, ensuring efficient data exchange with minimal latency.

The GD32H75E EtherCAT MCU is available in two BGA240 package models—one with two internal Ethernet PHYs and another in bypass mode to suit different applications. GigaDevice provides datasheets, user manuals, and application notes for both the GD32H75E MCU and the GDSCN832 EtherCAT sub-device controller. The Cortex-M7 MCU is supported by the free GD32 IDE and tools like GD-LINK and GD32 All-In-One Programmer, with additional support from Arm KEIL, IAR, and SEGGER. While not listed on the product page, relevant documentation is available on the GD32MCU website.

The new EtherCAT microcontrollers are expected to enter mass production in Q2 2025, with additional details available on the official press release page.
