OSRAM BIOFY® – SFH 7072 Biometric Sensor

OSRAM BIOFY® – SFH 7072 Biometric Sensor

OSRAM’s biometric sensor multi-chip package features two green, one red, and one infrared emitter, and two detectors

OSRAM’s BIOFY SFH 7072 optical sensors expand the possibilities of self-observation offering heart rate measurements and the oxygen saturation of blood. Quantified self-movement is gaining popularity and there is an increasing interest in medical measurement methods that can be integrated into wearable gadgets such as watches, smartphones, and fitness bracelets. It started with fitness trackers that determine the step frequency by using acceleration sensors. These optical methods score well in economic terms as technologies for highly efficient LEDs allow for more energy-efficient and compact sensors.

Features

  • Multi-chip package
  • Small package size: 7.5 mm x 3.9 mm x 0.9 mm (WDH)
  • Light barriers block optical crosstalk
  • Optimized for a strong PPG signal

Applications

  • Heart rates
