U-blox has recently launched the EVK-LEXI-R10, a cellular evaluation kit designed for the ultra-small LEXI-R10 series LTE Cat 1bis modules. These are used in evaluating multi-band cellular technologies. It supports different regional models, including North America (LEXI-R10401D), Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific (LEXI-R10801D), and a global version (LEXI-R10001D). The kit is composed of three boards: the motherboard (EVB-WL3) for power and peripheral connections, a cellular adapter board (ADP-R10) housing the LEXI-R10 module, and an optional GNSS adapter board (ADP-GNSS) for GPS functionality.

It comes with USB and UART ports, works with SIM cards, can measure power use, and works with U-blox tools for setup and testing. This kit is usually used in applications like IoT devices and systems requiring cellular-based communication.

Previously, we covered a range of Evaluation kits including i.MX 95 Titan EVK – Toradex’s Evaluation Kit (EVK), Sensirion’s SEN5x Evaluation kit, EV35L43A AVR128DB48 Nano Evaluation Kit, and many more, feel free to explore these products if you’re interested in this.

The EVK-R10 kit offers jumper settings for different configurations, including a 3.8V supply to the cellular VCC and routing options for cellular UART interfaces to USB, RS232, or the B2B connector. Another jumper routes GNSS UART Tx data through the USB on the ADP-GNSS or as Tx for the cellular module. These settings improve communication and power use, and you can find the scripts on the company’s GitHub page.

With AT command support, the U-blox m-center tool lets you test and set up U-blox cellular modules. The kit comes with the LEXI-R10 LTE Cat 1bis module, a GNSS module, a USB cable, LTE and GPS antennas, and a power adapter for testing LTE and GNSS functions.

As far as I understand, the EVK-R10 kit is a solid tool for testing and setting up u-blox’s LEXI-R10 LTE Cat 1bis and GNSS modules. After reviewing this product in detail, let’s say, with its flexible configuration options, easy-to-use software, and included accessories.

It’s great for developers working on IoT and cellular communication projects because the U-Blox EVK-LEXI-R10 kits are available in three variants. Assume you’re checking out LTE or GNSS features, so you can check everything you need for an easy testing experience.

Among these three variants, only the EVK-R1080D is available on U-blox’s official store at $448.88, and the EVK-R10401D and EVK-R10801D can be purchased from Mouser priced at $437.93 each.
