Waveshare has recently introduced the Core1121, an industrial multi-band LoRa module built around the Semtech LR1121 transceiver, supporting Sub-GHz (150–960 MHz), S-band (1.9–2.1 GHz), and 2.4 GHz ISM bands. With a castellated and through-hole layout, this is designed for IoT applications that require secure and flexible connectivity across multiple frequency ranges.

As mentioned, it’s a triple band module, so it has support for LoRa, (G)FSK, and LR-FHSS modulations, along with AES-128 encryption, up to 22 dBm output power, and high sensitivity (-127 dBm at Sub-GHz). The module comes in mainly two variants: 850–930 MHz, LF for 410–510 MHz, and there is also a 2.4 GHz variant for global use.  Interfaces include SPI, GPIOs with interrupt support, and dual IPEX4 antenna connectors. With low power consumption (1.35 µA sleep) and TCXO stability, the Core1121 becomes a versatile module for industrial IoT, outdoor sensing, and LoRaWAN applications.

The Core1121 is available in two models: the HF version, designed for 850–930 MHz operation, and the LF version, targeting the 410–510 MHz range. While these sub-GHz options vary by region, both include support for the 2.4 GHz ISM band, making the module deployable worldwide. More information can be found on the Waveshares Wiki page.

With TCXO, the Core1121 maintains stable frequency across -40 °C to +85 °C, unlike standard oscillators that drift.

The module features a TCXO (Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator), a crystal oscillator with built-in circuitry that adjusts frequency against temperature changes. Unlike standard oscillators, it maintains a very stable frequency across a wide temperature range (e.g., -40 °C to +85 °C). Field tests in Shenzhen confirmed up to 5 km Sub-GHz range at 22 dBm with a 6 dBi antenna.
