EchoEar is an ESP32-S3 AI chatbot with a circular touch display, dual mics, speaker, and AI model support for smart voice and edge AI applications.

Espressif EchoEar is an ESP32-S3-based AI chatbot/development kit designed for voice interaction and edge AI applications. It targets smart speakers, toys, and central control systems with support for large AI models like OpenAI, Xiaozhi AI, and Gemini, enabling full-duplex voice interaction, multimodal recognition, and intelligent agent control.

The kit integrates an ESP32-S3-WROOM-1 module with 16MB Flash, 16MB PSRAM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5 (LE), plus a 1.85-inch circular QSPI touch display (360×360). It features a dual microphone array with local wake-word detection and sound source localization, a built-in 3W speaker, multiple audio chips, and a Class D amplifier. Expansion and power options include USB-C, a 3.7V lithium battery, and a magnetic connector supporting serial/power interfaces. Other components include an IMU, SD card slot (up to 32GB), battery management and charging ICs, and support for touch interaction via copper foils.

The EchoEar can be programmed with the ESP-IDF framework, and Espressif provides Board Support Packages (BSPs) for quick access to onboard peripherals like the LCD, audio chips, buttons, and LEDs. Developers can flash firmware via USB-C, and application examples are available through the esp-brookesia project, which includes demos for voice interaction and AI agent control. The kit integrates smoothly with large AI models from OpenAI, Xiaozhi AI, and Gemini, enabling multimodal interaction and intelligent edge AI applications.
