GL.iNet has launched Comet (GL-RM1), an open-source hardware-based remote KVM solution that allows users to control any computer over Ethernet. It features an HDMI port for video and audio input and a USB-C port for keyboard and mouse emulation, ensuring secure, real-time access. Even if the operating system crashes or the computer loses power, Comet’s open-source design enables hardware-level interaction, making it useful for BIOS access, troubleshooting, and recovering from boot failures.

GL.iNet Comet (GL-RM1) is an alternative to the Sipeed NanoKVM (Cube), offering a more powerful quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM, 8GB eMMC flash storage, and a gigabit Ethernet port. It supports up to 2K (2160×1440) resolution at 60 FPS with H.264 encoding while maintaining latency between 30ms and 60ms. Unlike software-based solutions like TeamViewer, Comet does not require any software installation on target devices, eliminating the need for costly recurring subscriptions.
