MediaTek Dimensity CX C10 Max octa-core SoC targets Googlebooks

Built on TSMC's 3nm process, the new octa-core SoC combines Arm Cortex-X925 CPU cores, Immortalis-G925 graphics, Wi-Fi 7, and on-device Gemini AI support.

MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity CX C10 Max, the first processor in its new Dimensity Compute Experiences (CX) family, designed for premium, ultra-portable Googlebook laptops. Built on TSMC’s 3nm process, the SoC combines an eight-core Arm CPU, an 11-core GPU, and a dedicated MediaTek NPU 890 delivering up to 55 TOPS of AI performance.

The new processor is designed to run Google’s upcoming Googlebook OS, also known by its codename Aluminum OS, which combines Android and ChromeOS features. With a focus on on-device AI, multitasking, and power efficiency, MediaTek says the platform can support thin, fanless laptops with all-day battery life.

Note: The press release footnotes mention that Bluetooth 6.0 is not supported on Googlebook devices, suggesting a potential OS limitation or the use of an external wireless module

One of the key features of the Dimensity CX C10 Max is its support for Googlebook OS. The operating system combines features from Android and ChromeOS and is built on Android 17. It includes a desktop interface, improved window management, verified boot, and support for Google’s Titan security chip. Google also plans to provide up to 10 years of OS updates for these devices.

The platform also supports Gemini Intelligence, Google’s context-aware AI system powered by the MediaTek NPU 890. It enables on-device AI features that can work with on-screen content, connected Android phones, Gmail, and Calendar while reducing reliance on cloud processing. One example is Magic Pointer, which suggests relevant actions when users hover over or move the cursor over text or images.

The Googlebook website currently lists Intel Core Ultra and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite models for pre-order, and at least one model powered by the new MediaTek SoC is expected to launch soon. More details are available on MediaTek’s product page and in the official press release.
