PiLink PL-R5/R5M Series – Raspberry Pi CM5 PCs

Compact industrial PCs with an IP20 or IP65 ingress protection rating, the PL-R5 and PL-R5M Series are manufactured by PiLink, a Japanese company, and are powered by a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5).

While the PLR5M Series has one USB 2.0 port, one 100 Mbps Ethernet port, an additional Gigabit Ethernet port that can be added, and a 10.7V to 28.8V DC input range, the PLR5 Series has one USB 3.0 port, one single-pair Ethernet (SPE) port, and a 9V to 40V DC input. Both have optional WiFi 5 and Bluetooth, a cellular M.2 B-Key socket, optional RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces, I2C interfaces, and more. The IP65 models come in three different configurations: Basic, USB (three USB ports), and Basic Plus (four additional analog inputs and four additional DI/DO). A DIO CAN IP65 variant with two DI, two DO, and two CAN Bus interfaces is also added by the PL-R5. There are even more options available for the IP20 variants. Applications focus on robotics and smart factories.

The PiLink PL-R5 and PL-R5M industrial PCs’ IP20 versions are essentially identical except for the absence of waterproof connectors. This allows the company to offer a greater variety of interface options, such as Single Pair Ethernet, maintenance display support, extra COM and USB 3.0 ports, and more.

With the appropriate drivers, all models run either Trixie OS or Raspberry Pi Bookworm. Each product page has links to OS images and a wealth of documentation, but aside from the product brief, which is accessible to the public, all other resources require users to log in or get in touch with the business.
