Raspberry Pi 5 Launched with Faster CPU, PCIe Support, and Up to 16GB RAM

Raspberry Pi has launched the Raspberry Pi 5, a powerful, next-generation SBC (single-board computer) available in multiple RAM variants, designed for various applications, like personal computing, education, and professional use.

It offers up to 2–3× the speed of its predecessor, featuring the Broadcom BCM2712 quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz and supporting up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Key features include dual 4Kp60 HDMI display output, a PCIe 2.0 interface for fast peripherals, USB 3.0 ports for high-speed data transfer, and dual-band Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 5.0. Additionally, it is built with an in-house RP1 I/O controller, enhancing performance and connectivity.

It requires the latest Raspberry Pi OS, Bookworm, for optimal functionality and benefits from active cooling solutions, such as the official Raspberry Pi 5 case with an integrated fan. This is used in applications ranging from home automation, media centres, and gaming to industrial automation and IoT solutions. A real-time clock, power button, and improved connectivity options make it suitable for demanding tasks and professional applications.
