Variscite has launched VAR-SOM-AM62P, a new system-on-module designed to provide advanced multimedia processing while remaining cost-effective. At the core of the module is the Texas Instruments’ Sitara AM62Px SoC, which is an evolution of the AM62 family. Compared to its predecessor, VAR-SOM-AM62, the AM62P variant offers significantly improved graphics processing and video handling capabilities.

The VAR-SOM-AM62P system-on-module is part of the company’s VAR-SOM Pin2Pin family, meaning it shares a common footprint with other SoMs from the same family. This allows developers to interchange SoMs across performance levels without making substantial changes to their baseboard hardware. The SoM is tailored for embedded systems that are deployed in industrial HMI and control panels, medical diagnostic displays, and multimedia kiosks.

Specifications of Variscite VAR-SOM-AM62P SoM

Variscite VAR-SOM-AM62P SoM Evaluation Kit

The module has several key features, including support for dual-display and 3D graphics acceleration, as well as a comprehensive array of peripherals. This makes it an ideal building block for integration into a diverse range of products in markets that demand high performance, low power consumption, and a compact form factor.

Variscite provides the Symphony board as the designated evaluation board, which serves as the carrier board for the SoM. To facilitate development, the company offers a complete kit that includes the Symphony board, VAR-SOM-AM62P SoM, display, and touch components, along with necessary accessories and cables. Regarding operating systems, the module is compatible with both Linux BSP and Android.
