Waveshare introduced the EyeLink-RC-S1 Remote Controller as an external human interface device for its EyeLink series of eye-tracking modules. The controller supports direct thumb-based navigation, fast mode switching, and precise control input for embedded vision and interaction projects targeting accessibility, robotics, or kiosk environments.

The compact form factor enables handheld use without mounting constraints. Developers can operate it independently from the main eye-tracking module, which helps in systems where traditional touch or mouse control feels impractical. The remote outputs intuitive event signals that integrate with existing UI layers, making it useful for designers who want to keep manual fallback control in systems primarily driven by eye-tracking or AI automation.

Remote Controller Specifications

EyeLink-RC-S1 works with Waveshare’s EyeLink SDK over BLE or USB HID input streams. Developers can query real-time button and axis events with low latency and bind them to menu controls, app switchers, calibration triggers, or custom robot motion commands. The input driver requires no kernel patching because the system exposes itself as a standard HID interface, allowing immediate mapping through Linux input-event systems, ROS integrations, and Python control scripts.
