Würth Elektronik offers SMD vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSLs), WL-VCSL series. Vertical cavity surface lasers are emitters for homogeneous light and high optical power output. The WL-VCSL series features a robust package with low thermal resistance and have a different field of view due to the special diffused silica glass, which allows them to be used in multiple applications; for example, 3D sensing, LiDAR, and biometric identification. Compared to standard LED emitters, VCSLs provide coherent light, which can be used not only for illumination but also as structured light for 3D and depth sensing.
