GL.iNet Comet 5G RedCap KVM Adds Cellular Failover and Touchscreen
A compact KVM over IP device with 5G RedCap, Wi-Fi 6, and Ethernet failover, offering remote access, 4K input, and a built-in touchscreen for control.
GL.iNet Comet 5G RedCap KVM
GL.iNet has launched the Comet 5G (GL-RM10RC), a compact 5G RedCap KVM designed for remote device management without relying on a stable wired network. It combines KVM over IP functionality with integrated cellular connectivity, allowing engineers and IT teams to access and control systems even during network outages. This makes it practical for edge deployments, remote labs, and field maintenance setups.
The device builds on the earlier Comet Pro but adds 5G RedCap support, a larger 3.69-inch touchscreen, and expanded storage. It supports multiple network paths including Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, and cellular, and automatically switches between them when connectivity drops. This failover design removes the biggest limitation of traditional KVM systems—dependency on a single network.
Previously, GL.iNet Comet PoE and GL.iNet Comet (GL-RM1) models from GL.iNet were also covered—worth checking if you want a comparison.

Comet 5G KVM Specifications
The Comet 5G runs a Linux 6.1-based system, likely built on GL.iNet’s GLKVM OS using Buildroot. Users can control the device through the GLKVM app available on Windows, macOS, and Android, while iOS support is expected soon. It also supports browser-based access over HTTPS, which removes the need for dedicated client software. The platform includes features like remote keyboard/mouse control, file transfer, clipboard sync, screen rotation, and power management. Users can deploy a self-hosted server for full control and privacy, and the system supports VPN tools like Tailscale for secure remote access.
The GL.iNet Comet 5G KVM over 5G RedCap is priced at $299.99 on Amazon and the official GL.iNet store, while AliExpress listings go lower at around $265.19.
