Heltec Automation has introduced the Mesh Node T096, a compact low-power development board built for long-range wireless communication, decentralized networking, and positioning applications. The board combines the nRF52840 microcontroller, SX1262 LoRa transceiver, and UC6580 GNSS receiver into a small platform designed for Meshtastic, MeshCore, and LoRaWAN projects. With support for Bluetooth, LoRa, and satellite positioning, the device targets developers working on mesh communication systems, asset tracking, environmental monitoring, and remote sensing deployments.

The board uses the Nordic nRF52840 SoC, which features a 64MHz Arm Cortex-M4F processor with Bluetooth 5 and Bluetooth Mesh support. Unlike many ESP32-based LoRa platforms, the T096 focuses heavily on low-power operation, making it more suitable for battery-powered and solar-powered nodes. Heltec also integrates an SX1262 LoRa transceiver with a built-in PA that delivers up to 28±1 dBm transmit power for long-range connectivity and improved signal reliability. The onboard UC6580 GNSS chip supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, NAVIC, and QZSS positioning systems for accurate location tracking.

The LoRa mesh node supports Arduino, PlatformIO, and MicroPython development environments, allowing developers to quickly build wireless communication and tracking applications. Heltec also provides LoRa and LoRaWAN example projects for rapid prototyping. Since the board supports Meshtastic and MeshCore out of the box, users can deploy decentralized mesh networks without depending on traditional communication infrastructure. The nRF52840 platform also enables concurrent Bluetooth and mesh networking operation while maintaining low power consumption.

Heltec sells the Mesh Node T096 through its official store for $29.90. The board comes in both 863–870MHz and 902–928MHz variants. The package includes the board, LoRa antenna, SMA-to-IPEX adapter, battery cable, and header pins. More details and purchasing information are available from Heltec Automation.
