Sipeed’s RPi-sized NanoCluster is a compact computing platform designed for multi-SOM configurations, balancing size and functionality. It supports up to seven system-on-modules (SoM), including the LM3H, CM4, CM5, and M4N, and features an onboard open-source RISC-V Gigabit Ethernet switch, 60W PD/PoE power support, and UART/PWR control. This makes it suitable for various distributed computing applications.

With dimensions of just 85 mm x 56 mm, the NanoCluster is significantly smaller than a standard mini-ITX board, occupying only one-sixth of its size. Despite its compact form, it integrates an embedded RISC-V Gigabit Ethernet switch with OpenSDK support, enabling robust networking capabilities. It supports ACL, SVL, VLAN, and QoS, ensuring efficient data management across different applications.

Storage configurations depend on the SOM used. The LM3H module includes eMMC storage, while the CM4 and CM5 variants support TF/eMMC with optional SSD storage. The M4N module offers both eMMC and SSD storage, providing flexible data management options. Additionally, a dedicated slot is reserved for a baseboard management controller, with power and UART interfaces for further control.

For connectivity, the primary slot includes two USB 2.0 ports, while USB-C connectivity is available via an adapter for the M4N, CM4, and CM5 modules. A single HDMI output is also provided for display support.
