Lantronix Open-M 720G and 520G SoMs Target Edge AI Applications

The Lantronix Open-M 720G and 520G are miniature sized (43x44mm) LGA system-on-modules (SoM) alongside 6nm MediaTek Genio 720 and Genio 520 SoCs that offer an AI performance of 10 TOPS, and are targeted at Edge IoT applications with low-power Vision AI and GenAI workloads.Genio 720 and Genio 520 SoCs have been developed on 6nm technology and boast outstanding NPU & CPU power efficiency. They additionally offer support for the TAA and NDAA compliant products with at least 10 years of longevity for the System on Modules.
The Genio 720 dual-camera module is paired with 8GB LPDDR5, while the Genio 520 single-camera module is matched with 4GB LPDDR5. Both feature 128GB of UFS storage, Gigabit Ethernet networking, optional WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, dual display capabilities, audio inputs/outputs, USB 3.2/2.0 interfaces, PCIe Gen2 x1, along with additional features.

Open-M 720G SOM Development Kit
The organization endorses Android 15 and Yocto Linux, with Ubuntu support on the software roadmap. Each of the modules are also powered by the NVIDIA TAO framework. Lantronix also announced the Open-M 720G SOM Development Kit for benchmarking and early stage software development. It’s a mini-ITX (17x17cm) board with HDMI, USB-C (DisplayPort) and eDP display interfaces, two MIPI CSI connectors, multiple audio interfaces, an Ethernet RJ45 jack, multiple USB ports, M.2 B-Key and E-Key sockets, GPIO headers, 12V DC input and external battery support.
Market price information isn’t easily found but Lantronix is selling samples online and the wireless version of the Open-M 720G and Open-M 520G is sold for $286.21 and $436.09 while the TAA-compliant Open M-720 SOM Dev Kit sells for $1,300. Refer to the product page for any additional information.
