Panasonic’s Laser-Type PM Sensor expands its extensive range of specialty sensor solutions, offering a reliable and versatile option for air quality monitoring. The SN-GC Series Laser-Type Air Quality Sensors are engineered for both indoor and outdoor environments, catering to industries like retail, medical, and smart buildings. With the ability to detect a wide range of particulate matter, including dust, smoke, and emissions from sources such as fireplaces and construction materials, the sensors comply with RoHS and REACH standards.
This long-life air quality sensor provides simple I2C and UART (TTL) connectivity, outperforming traditional LED-based designs in precision and functionality. It accurately detects PM2.5, PM10, and PM1 particles, leveraging a laser diode for superior sensitivity, high accuracy, and rapid response times. Additional features like an auto-calibration function and an optimized air pathway structure reduce dust accumulation, ensuring consistent performance.
With a compact form factor of W37 x D37 x H12 mm, this all-in-one air quality sensor delivers exceptional precision and durability. It is ideal for applications such as HVAC systems, air conditioners, air purifiers, IoT devices, environmental monitoring, and test & measurement, serving markets like building automation, smart homes, and industrial testing.

Particulate Matter (PM) sensors are reliably able to detect smoke, environmental dust, and other unwanted dangerous pollutants in the air that surround us. SN-GCJA5 type has excellent accuracy and quick response based on laser scattering technology.
Panasonic SN-GCJA5 Laser Particulate Matter (PM) Sensors are comprised of an onboard microprocessor, micro-fan, Laser Diode (LD), and Photo-Diode (PD). The LD emits light into the detection area, and the PD receives the light and detects the floating particles in the air. These sensor fans operate based on the amount of dust particles surrounding the LD, extending the sensors’ lifespan.
