Waveshare PoE HAT (H) for Raspberry Pi 5 with Onboard PoE Controller IC and Isolated SMPS
The PoE HAT (H) is a compact power over Ethernet solution for the Raspberry Pi 5 and Compute Module 5, which is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3af/at standards. When connected to a PoE-enabled switch or router, it enables both power and network connectivity through a single Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter and simplifying your setup.
Designed for reliable and efficient operation, the HAT features a 40-pin GPIO passthrough header, a dedicated onboard IC for stable power delivery, and an isolated switched-mode power supply (SMPS) for enhanced safety and performance. Its slim form factor makes it ideal for embedded systems, industrial use, and compact enclosures.

To install the Waveshare PoE HAT (H) on your Raspberry Pi 5, begin by installing the standoffs that come with it onto the Pi. Position the HAT over the 40-pin GPIO header and press it gently into position, then fasten it with the screws that come with it.
Finally, plug in the Raspberry Pi into the red half of the official case, ensuring that all the ports are correctly aligned with the holes. Attach the thermal pad on top of the SoC for better heat dissipation, followed by snapping the top cover onto the case with the integrated fan mount.
Once installed, plug in a PoE-enabled Ethernet cable to provide both power and network connection over one cable.
