Aries Embedded, an embedded systems solutions provider, has recently unveiled its latest offering, the FIVEberry, a RISC-V development board that aims to empower developers with advanced capabilities for their projects. The key highlight of the FIVEberry is its inclusion of the MSRZFive System on Module (SoM), which enhances the board’s performance and versatility.

The MSRZFive SoM, developed in collaboration with Renesas Electronics, brings the power of RISC-V architecture to the FIVEberry. Designed as a compact and cost-effective solution, the MSRZFive SoM integrates a single-core 64-bit Renesas microcontroller with peripherals such as Ethernet and CAN (Controller Area Network) interfaces. This combination enables seamless communication and connectivity, allowing developers to create next-gen applications for a wide range of embedded systems.

With the MSRZFive SoM at its core, the FIVEberry offers developers an array of capabilities. The system-on-module leverages the power of Andes AX45MP, which is a RISC-V-based CPU with level-2 cache coherence. The AndesCore AX45MP has dual-issue 8-stage pipeline architecture with symmetric multiprocessing up to 8 cores and is compliant with the RISC-V RV64 GCP little endian.

Specifications of FIVEBerry RISC-V development board:

  • SoM: Aries Embedded MSRZFive-A0A system-on-module with Renesas RZ/Five R9A07G043F01GBG single-core RISC-V CPU featuring an AndesCores AX45MP processor
  • Memory: 512 MB DDR4 RAM
  • Storage: 128Mbit SPI NOR flash and MicroSD card slot
  • Interfaces: 2x Gigabit Ethernet ports, 1x USD 2.0 host port, 1x micro USD 2.0 OTG port, 40x pin GPIO header
  • Power supply: 5V via USB Type-C port
  • Dimensions: 85×56 mm
  • Operating temperature: -25°C to +85°C

Moreover, the FIVEberry is equipped with various interfaces, including two Gigabit Ethernet channels, two USB 2.0 channels, and two CAN channels, as well as dual analog-to-digital converter modules. This opens up numerous possibilities for creating connected applications, IoT projects, and industrial automation systems.

To further enhance the development experience, Aries Embedded must provide comprehensive software support for the FIVEberry development board. We know that the manufacturer will provide a Yocto Linux BSP for the board, which allows it to be used for entry-level IoT gateway control and industrial applications.

For more information on the board, head to the official product page. If you are interested in purchasing the FIVEBerry-A0A RISC-V development board, priced at €119.00, follow the sales page on the manufacturer’s website.
